Sara Tegner

     New country, new town, and now a new award.  Freshman Sara Tegner was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Sept. 17th.

     Tegner, whose hometown is Amal, Sweden, played in two singles matches and two doubles matches this past weekend.  In her first match, she defeated Wayne State's Deby Correa, 6-3, 6-3, last Friday (Sept. 12).  Against Findlay, she defeated Candace Pahl, 6-2, 6-0, last Saturday (Sept. 13). 

     Tegner also competes in doubles with partner junior Christa Halicki.  They defeated Wayne State's Correa and Sargam Bhatt, 8-3.  They knocked out Findlay's Pahl and Elizabeth Blosser by the same count of 8-3.

     Tegner competes at fourth singles and third doubles.  The AU tennis team currently sits at 3-0.
